William J. Collins (collinsw@lafayette.edu) is Head of the Computer Science Department at Lafayette College in Easton, Pennsylvania, where he teaches data structures and introductory programming. He received his Ph.D. in Computer Science from Purdue University in 1974. He has written numerous articles in the areas of object-oriented programming and computer science education. Prior to this book, he had written two earlier texts in the area of data structures, and has recently completed a data structures text for McGraw-Hill that emphasizes C++'s Standard Template Library. He has been involved in the accreditation of computer science programs since 1988, and has been a team chair since 2000.
