0.Basic Information

Each lab is divided into two parts. Part A, which ends with a Hypothesis Section, is available all the time on Netscape or Internet Explorer. In order to do Part B, you will need the password for that lab. You will be able to access Part B as soon as you submit your hypothesis.

1. Browsers to Use:

Use Netscape or Internet Explorer.

2. Switching between the Browser and Java

On your desktop, double click on the browser icon. When you want to use Java, do not close the browser window -- you might want to see it at the same time you run your program.

3. Downloading:

Each highlighted Java file is there for you to download. Click on it and you will be able to read it. To save it to your disk for use in Java, simply put your disk in the A: drive, go to file and click on save as. Put a: before the file name and press Enter. The program will be copied to your disk.

4. What if the Computer Freezes?

Sometimes when you make a mistake that the compiler does not detect, the computer might freeze. (The typical symptom is when you hit a key, you hear a beep or nothing.) Simply close the output window and you will be back in the Java environment.

5. What if you are lost?

Though this lab is designed to lead you to success in Java, you may get lost and could not find the place where you were. If that happens , simply go back to the home page for the labs and start over.

7. What if you still want that paper version?

For your convenience, the browser offers the PRINT command. Print as many pages as you want.

8. Things to remember when sending your hypothesis.

When sending your hypothesis, press "enter" when you come to the end of the line. This will ensure that your instructor will be able to receive a legible copy of your hypothesis.
