Warm/Cool

Colors are often described in terms of temperature. Reds, oranges and yellows are generally considered warm colors, while blues, purples and greens are commonly described as cool. Color temperature can affect the spatial perception of color. Warm colors appear to advance in the picture plane, while cool colors seem to recede. Artists often use these properties of color temperature to enhance the spatial characteristics of their work.
