Roman Architecture
Romans adopted many of the architectural styles of the Greeks, but their engineers made impressive innovations. Romans transformed the use of arches, extending them into vaults and rotating them into domes to enclose large areas with modestly sized stones cut exactly to shape. They also developed hydraulic cement that let them shape buildings into curves and irregular shapes. In addition, their styles influenced Christian architecture.
