Art Deco
Beginning in about 1900, architects built structures that were streamlined and geometric, while echoing forms from world cultures, like Egyptian, Aztec, Maya, and Japanese. This style predominated until about 1939, when depression and war seemed to call for a more “modern” approach to our skylines.
