Half-Drop

The half-drop pattern is sometimes referred to as a "shingle" or "brick" pattern because these particular materials are usually arranged using this system. Half-drop modules are "lapped" or shifted one-half the length of a module in each row. This usually creates a stable, unifying, all-over effect if the modules are rectangular and tightly packed. However, take notice of the fact that as the shape of the module changes or the spacing between modules increases, a diagonal stripe pattern becomes more dominant, creating a strong sense of implied motion.

Click a button on the left to view different half-drop repeat patterns. Try altering the size and rotation by dragging the Scale and Rotate button to the left or right. The Variation button will randomly affect the rotation and size.
