Pattern

Radial

A radial pattern is centered on a single point. One type of radial pattern uses a number of pie shaped modules, twenty for instance, that evenly divide the 360-degree rotation into eighteen-degree wedge shapes (360/20 = 18 degrees). The pleasing, kaleidoscopic pattern that results has amazed children for hundreds of years. Another version is based on a system of concentric circles and evenly-spaced, converging rays. Modules are placed at the intersections where the circles and rays meet. This yields a star-like arrangement of modules.

Drag the shapes on the left into the composition area then click the Create Radial Pattern button to create an image using radial symmetry. Use the paintbucket to randomly change the colors of the shapes. You can move some shapes with the hand cursor and click Create Radial Pattern again. The Revert button will return the shapes to their original position.
