Learn about the subtractive method of construction


Instructions:
  1. Look at various interior spaces in your town. Find one that is a good example of "Enclosed Space." Find one that is a good example of an "Open Space."
  2. Observe how the spaces are used.
  3. On the second page create four different designs that emphasize rhythm and motion. Vary the spacing, placement, and rotation of your module.
  4. Make a note of the structures and your opinions of them.
Questions:
  1. What spaces did you find that were enclosed and open? What was their use? Was the space appropriately designed for its use?
  2. What structures did you find that were static and dynamic? Which did you prefer and why?
