Pre-Production

Script

Pre-production includes everything that takes place before the filming begins, and the pre-production elements often determine the success of the film itself. Many films begin as a script — a clearly written version of the projected film.

Good scripts include much more than the dialogue of the characters. For example, it incorporates descriptions of the setting and of the characters themselves. Scripts must also offer detailed accounts of the action, the transitions between scenes, and potential camera shots for the film’s narrative. The details in the script exert a profound influence on the finished product.
