Director/Actor

Blocking

The director has to be able to visualize how the action will appear on the screen, and to be sure the filming is consistent with his or her vision of the final product. To do this, directors plan the flow of all scenes by “blocking” all the positioning and movement of the actors within the scene.

Changes in the position of actors gives a different feel to any given shot, so directors spend a good deal of time in advance blocking.
