Setting

Time/Location

Literature has the ability to allow readers to empathize with experiences different from their own. To do this effectively, readers have to be able to gain a real sense of the events in the narrative, so authors must clearly portray a setting. A significant part of a setting is the time of day and a vivid description of a location. Changing these fundamental elements of a narrative will change a reader’s reaction to the work.

Choose a time of day and a location to display a new version of the story. How does the mood of the story change as the time of day and the location change?
