Music

Introduction

Music has always been a valued part of the human experience. In the ancient world, music most often accompanied special or sacred events, but in the modern world music surrounds us all the time. Whether it is as simple as the beat of a drum or as complex as a multi-instrument orchestra, all music shares common elements: Music is made of sounds and rhythms experienced through time.

Music is different from the other arts since it requires you only to listen (not see), but, like the other arts, it enhances your awareness of the world and of human feelings. It is also like the other arts in that the more you understand how composers construct music the more you can appreciate it.
