Emotional sensibilityOne of the hardest things actors have to do is to express the emotional states of their characters; this is called “emotional sensibility.” Emotional sensibility is conveyed through a combination of voice and body language, and it is essential to strike exactly the right level of emotion in order for the audience to believe in a character. Believable performances strike a balance between too much emotion or not enough. Too little emotion is called a “flat” performance, and too much is called “excessive.” It takes great skill to project just the right amount of emotion. |
