CompositionDirectors must consider how the drama will appear to the audience. Therefore, the physical arrangement of the actors on stage is essential. Much like a dance choreographer, a director must consider where on the stage any part of the action will take place — “upstage” (away from the audience), “downstage” (at the front of the stage), or “center stage.” In addition, directors must position all the actors as they deliver lines or perform some action. To successfully decide the composition of a drama, a director must be able to imagine how the audience will view the finished production. |
