Surface Anatomy

Definition: Surface Anatomy is the study of the structure and markings on the surface of the body that can be identified through observation (viewing) or palpation (feeling with firm pressure).

Anatomical position: In the anatomical position, the body is erect, the feet are parallel to one another and flat on the floor, the eyes directed forward, and the arms at the sides of the body with the palms turned forward.
