David A. Sandmire, M.D. Assistant Professor, Department of Life Sciences University of New England Dave Sandmire, M.D., is an assistant professor in the Department of Life Sciences at the University of New England, where he teaches Neuroscience, Anatomy and Physiology, Pathophysiology, and Cardiovascular Physiology. Dr. Sandmire's primary research investigates the impact of individual learning styles on collaborative clinical problem-solving. His manuscript, entitled "The Influence of Learning Styles on Collaborative Performance of Allied Health Students in a Clinical Exercise," was recently accepted for publication in the Journal of Allied Health. In 1999, Dr. Sandmire authored the book chapter entitled "The Physiology and Pathology of Aging," which appeared in Walter Chop and Regula Robnett's Gerontology for the Health Care Professional (Philadelphia, F.A. Davis, 1999). In 1997, Dr. Sandmire received the University of New England's Debra J. Summers Memorial Award for Teaching Excellence. He received his B.S. degree in Biochemistry from the University of Wisconsin (1985), his M.D. degree from the University of Wisconsin (1989), and his M.A. degree in the History of Science and Medicine from the University of Wisconsin (1992).
