Chapter 4: Cellular Form and Function

All organisms, from the simplest to the most complex, are composed of cells. A bacterium or an amoeba consists of just one cell, whereas the human body is made up of trillions of cells. All of the properties of any living organism derive from the structure and functions of the cells of which it is made. Therefore, to understand life in all of its forms, a study of the cell is essential.
