2. A person with kidney disease may develop hypertension. What are two different mechanisms by which abnormal kidney function might produce hypertension? What are two different ways that drugs could act via the kidneys to reduce hypertension?

3. Young women who are anorexic may become so thin that their kidneys droop, a condition called renal ptosis. What is the anatomical basis of this condition?

4. A friend complains that he is always thirsty, and is producing large quantities of very dilute urine. How would you explain these symptoms?

5. Two people with the same degree of body hydration each reach for a drink on a hot day. One drinks a can of lemonade, the other a can of beer. How will each drink affect the body’s state of hydration? Which person will be better hydrated 2 hours later? Explain
