  6. Explain the role of iron in blood.
  7. Define erythropoiesis, and name the cells produced during erythropoiesis.
  8. Describe the removal of damaged or "worn-out" erythrocytes from the circulation, and describe the production and fate of bilirubin.
  9. Describe the structures and functions of the five types of leukocytes.
  10. Describe the structure, origin, and function of platelets.
  11. Name and describe the three stages of hemostasis.
  12. Compare the extrinsic and intrinsic pathways of coagulation.
  13. Explain the importance of the balance between coagulation factors and anticoagulants.
  14. Describe how a clot functions in wound healing and how the clot is removed.
  15. Explain the basis of ABO and Rh incompatibilities.
  16. Describe diagnostic blood tests and the normal values for the tests, and give examples of disorders that produce abnormal test values.
