Ancillaries

The supplemental package that accompanies Anatomy and Physiology by Seeley et al., 4/e, is designed to help students in their learning activities and guide instructors in planning course work and presentations. All of the ancillaries are available to qualified adopters. Following are brief descriptions of these support materials.

  1. Instructor's Manual and Test Item File prepared by written by Margaret Weck of St. Louis College of Pharmacy, facilitates development and presentation of a well-integrated course. It suggests ways to organize the material and is keyed to relevant transparencies and illustrations. Major points that deserve emphasis are included, hints on how to reinforce concepts are given, typical problem areas are noted along with ways to deal with problems, and possible topics for discussion are considered. There are also 100 transparency masters.

  2. Student Study Guide written by Philip Tate and James Kennedy of Phoenix College and Rod Seeley of Idaho State University. This study guide introduces the student to the content of anatomy and physiology using matching, labeling, and completion exercises. A Mastery Learning Activity consisting of multiple-choice questions emphasizes comprehension of the material, evaluates progress, and prepares the student for classroom testing.

  3. Transparencies consist of 400 acetate sheets that can be used to enrich and clarify classroom lectures. They can also be used for short quizzes. The transparencies were made from text illustrations that were chosen for their value in reinforcing lecture presentations.

  4. Microtest is a computerized testing service for generating examinations and quizzes. A complete test item file is available on computer diskette for use with Windows and Macintosh computers.

  5. Transparency Masters contains 50 black/white transparency masters, including key diagrams and tables from the text.

  6. The Visual Resources Library is a CD-ROM containing virtually all the art from the textbook. The CD-ROM contains an easy-to-use program that enables the user to move quickly among the images, show or hide labels, and create a multimedia presentation.

  7. Student Study Art Notebook contains all the illustrations from the transparency set. With this notebook at their desk, students no longer have to worry about whether they will be able to see leader lines and labels in a large lecture hall. They can make notes right on the illustrations. This notebook is packaged free with every text.

  8. The Dynamic Human CD-ROM illustrates the important relationships between anatomical structures and their functions in the human body. Realistic three-dimensional visualizations make this CD-ROM particularly useful.

  9. The Dynamic Human Videodisc contains all the animations from the CD-ROM. A barcode directory is also available.

  10. WCB/McGraw-Hill's Life Science Animations Videotapes is a series of five videotapes containing 53 animations that cover many key physiological processes. Another videotape, Physiological Concepts of Life Science, contains similar animations.

  11. Explorations in Human Biology CD-ROM consists of 15 interactive modules that stress human physiology. Students can actively investigate vital processes as they explore these modules, each of which is filled with color, sound, and movement. The CD-ROM is available for use with Macintosh and IBM Windows computers.

  12. Explorations in Cell Biology and Genetics CD-ROM features interactive concepts related to key topics covered in an anatomy and physiology course. It can be used by an instructor in the classroom or placed in a lab or resource center for students. The CD-ROM is available for use with Macintosh and IBM Windows computers.

  13. Life Science Living Lexicon CD-ROM is a comprehensive collection of life science terms, including definitions of their roots, prefixes, and suffixes. Audio pronunciations and illustrations are included as well. The Lexicon is student-interactive, featuring quizzing and notetaking capabilities.

  14. WCB Anatomy and Physiology Videodisc is a four-sided videodisc containing more than 30 animations of physiological processes, as well as line art and micrographs. A barcode directory is also available.

  15. WCB Anatomy and Physiology Video Series consists of the following exceptional videotapes

  16. Human Anatomy and Physiology Study Cards prepared by Kent Van De Graaff et al., is a boxed set of 300 3-by-5-inch cards. It serves as an illustrated summary of the key information presented in the text. The Study Cards offer students a quick and effective way to review human anatomy and physiology.

  17. Coloring Guide to Anatomy and Physiology prepared by Robert and Judith Stone emphasizes learning through color association. The Coloring Guide provides a thorough review of anatomical and physiological concepts.

  18. Atlas of the Skeletal Muscles prepared by Robert and Judith Stone is a guide to the structure and function of human skeletal muscles. The illustrations help students locate muscles and understand their actions.

  19. Case Histories in Human Physiology prepared by Donna Van Wynsberghe and Gregory Cooley, M.D., provides students with opportunities to integrate their thinking toward the solution of problems. An answer key is also available.
