The biosphere is the part of the earth that contains living organisms. It includes the surface of the lithosphere, where land organisms live, and the top 1 to 2 miles, which contains many bacteria. It also includes the hydrosphere, where aquatic organisms live, and the lower atmosphere, which contains windblown organisms, seeds, and spores.
