Chyme enters the seven meters of small intestine when the pyloric sphincter relaxes. The addition of numerous enzymes completes the digestion of food and nutrients are absorbed. The first 10 inches of the small intestine is the duodenum, the next section is the jejunum and this is followed by the ileum.
