Carbohydrates

Carbohydrates include monosaccharides, disaccharides, and polysaccharides. Monosaccharides (simple sugars) such as glucose and fructose are the smallest carbohydrate molecules. Disaccharides, such as sucrose, are formed by joining two monosaccharides together.
