Birds (Class Aves) are distinguished by the presence of feathers. Most species fly and all lay eggs similar to those of reptiles. Birds and mammals are homeotherms; they are able to maintain a high, constant body temperature. They have highly efficient circulatory systems to support their high metabolic rates.
