The fossil record provides strong evidence for evolution. Fossils indicate that the flora and fauna on the earth have changed markedly over millions of years. However, the modern flora and fauna are not completely different from that of the past. Morphological features of present-day plants and animals clearly link them to species in the past; they have simply been modified from their ancestral forms.
