Introduction

Over the history of life on earth 3 types of evolutionary phenomena can be observed, as illustrated by the members of the cow (Bovidae) and deer (Cervidae) families. Species evolve adaptations, as seen in the different shapes of bodies and horns or antlers. New species arise, as seen by the diversity within each family. Species also go extinct.
