Male gamete production takes place in the pollen sacs of the anther. It begins with the production of microsporocytes which in turn produce microspores by meiosis. Each microspore divides into two cells, a tube cell and a generative cell, forming a microgametophyte. Then a wall develops around the microgametophyte to form the pollen grain.
