Directional Terms

Ipsilateral refers to a body part that is on the same side of the body as another part with respect to an imaginary midline dividing the body into equal right and left halves. The right arm and right leg are ipsilateral.
Contralateral refers to a body part that is on the opposite side of the body as compared to another part with respect to an imaginary midline dividing the body into equal right and left halves. The right arm and left leg are contralateral.
