Chapter Overview

Chapter 7: Cell-Cell Interactions

Not all cells are "loners." Vast numbers of cells live in association with other cells and interact with them. Communication is essential for such interactions. The language in which cells communicate is chemistry. Signaling and responding can become quite complex. They are always ingenious. While some cells deal in chance encounters and come and go, cells making up tissues must cling together. They have decided mechanisms of adherence as well as communication. Such are the matters of this chapters.
