Chapter 60: Behavioral Ecology |
deWaal, F.: Good Natured: The Origin of Right and Wrong in Humans and Other Animals, Harvard University Press, Cambridge, MA, 1996. Can we trace our moral values to our primate ancestors? Provocative answers to this question.
Godfray, H.: "Evolutionary Theory of Parent-Offspring Conflict," Nature, vol. 376, pages 133–38, July 13, 1995. Early conflicts between parents and offspring apparently serve as substantial influence on the development of subsequent animal behavior. Authorities are not in agreement about the "evolutionary theory of this conflict," and this paper does a good job of presenting a summary of the prevailing theories.
