Chapter 22: Classification And Evolutionary History

This chapter explains various methods for categorizing organisms into groups, or classification. The traditional methods, based on morphologies, and more modern techniques, using computers and DNA analysis, are covered. The problems with thinking of organisms as "higher" versus "lower" in a lineage are discussed, and the more appropriate presentation of a modern phylogenetic tree is explained.
