This chapter begins with a careful study of the major transport systems found in plants. Gas movement in and out of leaves is discussed. The flow of water and ions throughout all parts of plants is traced. Phloem and xylem are examined and compared. The second half of the chapter covers the relationships between photosynthesis, transpiration and translocation in plants. The chapter ends with an analysis of some major plant adaptations for various conditions.
