This chapter presents an overview of animal behaviors and many of the factors associated with them. The basic terms used to describe behavior are presented here, along with examples to illustrate them. Simple, unlearned, innate behaviors are described, along with conditioned responses and learning. Orienting behaviors are also addressed.
