Critical Thinking Activities - Chapter 41
Question 1. The kidney receives about one-fifth of the blood flow; this translates into a red blood cell passing through the kidney once for every four times it makes a circuit through the rest of the body. How does this compare to blood flow through the lungs?
Question 2. The percentage of North American Indians with type B blood is only one percent, and virtually none has type AB. Yet, anthropologists believe they originated from northern Asia, and the percentages of Americans with types B and AB are 35% and 10% respectively. What evolutionary mechanism could account for this?
Answers are available to instructors in the Instructor's Manual.
