Chapter 12 - Mendelian Patterns of Inheritance

Lecture Enrichment Ideas

1. Discuss the "loss" of Mendel's work for thirty-five years and the independent discovery of the same laws of heredity by three scientists in 1900. Consider the timeliness of research and how some findings can be ``ahead of their time'' and therefore unappreciated.

2. Consider what the awareness of Mendel's findings might have done for Darwin's presentation of his theory of evolution.
