Patrick Reidy, Sponsoring Editor
Since graduating from Loras College, Dubuque IA in 1979, I have worked in sales and sales management in the retail, insurance and material handling industries. In August 1993, I began my publishing career with WCB/McGraw-Hill as a marketing manager. My responsibilities included the successful marketing of our Cell and Molecular Biology titles, our Botany, Zoology and Environmental Biology titles, and our Chemistry titles. In January 1997, I assumed the position of Sponsoring Editor for the General Biology list. My wife Karen and I are parents of four beautiful children. I take pleasure in spending a great deal of time with them as well as "banging" on my piano, singing, and enjoying my Irish/American heritage.

Anne Melde, Developmental Editor
I graduated from Loras College in Dubuque with a BA in journalism and several yearos of coursework in biology. I joined the McGraw-Hill General Biology department in 1998 and have since learned a great deal about publishing and education from a variety of outstanding authors, editors, and instructors. I have recently been given the opportunity to bring a new focus to my position, as I concentrate on the development of technology products to support our general biology textbooks. I hibernate most of the winter, but when the snow finally melts in Iowa I try to spend as much time as possible boating, biking, and fishing.

Lu Ann Weiss, Developmental Editor
After graduating from Iowa State University in 1987, I started my publishing career as a Graphic Designer with Lingui Systems, publisher of materials for handicapped children, in Moline, IL. Many books, games and catalogs later, I crossed the river to join Palmer College Marketing Department in Davenport as Art Director for print media and event coordination.
In the fall of 1992, I "got the call" to begin work at Wm. C. Brown Publishers. For five years I honed my design skills on titles such as Hole's Anatomy and Physiology, Van de Graf's Human Anatomy and Raven & Johnson's Understanding Biology. I continued in the Design Department with Brown and Benchmark and later McGraw-Hill as a Design Coordinator, successfully coordinating 40-50 soft-side titles.
In an unprecedented move, I became a Development Editor for the Geology and Geography Development teams in June of 1997. With this group I developed successful titles such as Plummer, McGeary and Carlson's Physical Geology, 20th Anniversary Edition, Getis/Getis and Fellmann's Introduction to Geography and Bradshaw's Regional Geography. In July of 1999 I found my new home in the Biology Department. Since then I have been working with George Johnson on the development of Biology, Sixth Edition and The Living World, Third Edition.

Lisa Gottschalk, Senior Marketing Manager
Lisa began her publishing career in January '85, after working briefly in the banking and the newspaper industry. Her education is in accounting, graduating from Marycrest College in Davenport, Iowa. She has held numerous positions with McGraw-Hill including financial analyst, sales representative, sales manager, and most recently senior marketing manager. Lisa and her husband enjoy living on their 110-acre farm located just a few miles from the beautiful Mississippi River. They also enjoy riding Harley Davidson motorcycles when the time and weather permits.
