3. Chapter One (The Development of Plant Study) has been significantly rewritten.

4. Chapter Thirteen (Genetics) has been revised and expanded--especially the material on molecular genetics.

5. Chapter Fourteen (Plant Propagation and Biotechnology) has been significantly revised and reorganized.

6. In response to reviewers' comments, Chapter Fifteen (Evolution) has been expanded.

7. Also as a result of reviewer feedback, Chapter Twenty Five (Ecology) has been revised and expanded.
