Today, students and instructors alike are increasingly accessing the expanding global network of information known as the Internet. Researchers and scientists, too, find this storehouse of knowledge to be an efficient means of gathering information and communicating within their respective disciplines. Since its inception in 1969, the Internet has grown from a national defense-oriented technology to a cosmopolitan tool of information exchange with mammoth possibilities.
