Overview

(Look here for the Overview PowerPoint!)

The extensive customer-driven development of the 5th edition led to a product message that instructors flocked to. That message – which includes the key elements of custom focus, technology, authorship, and package – has been honed even further throughout the 6th Edition development.

This 6th Edition has been through an intense, customer-driven development plan – with the help of more than 200 professors, this edition is poised to be an even more effective teaching and learning resource than ever before. In addition to traditional manuscript reviews, twelve focus groups were conducted all around the US that lead to important insights regarding the teaching needs of both full-time and part-time teachers of this course. The 6th edition benefits from student survey feedback as well.

Nowhere has the technology explosion been more felt than in the Introduction to Business course. The popular and robust UB5E website is enhanced for the 6th Edition, and includes such features as web-based projects, links to professional resources, a book-specific PowerWeb, as well as other exciting instructor support tools. In addition to the eLearning Sessions that put the course content in context for the student audience, there is a self-quizzing function, internet exercises, and even crossword puzzles to help student master the course content in an engaging fashion.

The new Concept Mastery Toolkit CD comes free with each new copy of the text. This CD is an excellent resource for students. It includes a Spanish-English glossary, chapter specific quizzes, learning assessments from Making the Grade, and Building an E-Business from the Ground Up, by Elizabeth Reding. This last addition is an entire e-text packaged for free for students that gives a solid introduction to starting your own e-business.

Another new feature on this site is the Understanding Business-specific PowerWeb. Link to PowerWeb from this site, and you’ll find material that ties into your course, and correlates to specific chapter material of the text. You’ll find the most relevant and up-to-date Internet resources that will not only enhance the course material, but will also save time for you along the way.
