"From cell-phones to self-phones"

Synopsis:
The opening case in Chapter 1 describes the trend of globalization in the telecommunications industry. This article introduces another trend in the industry -- mobile phones are increasingly aimed at specific types of user. Focusing on the case of Nokia and Samsung, this article explains that companies in the industry are rushing to provide different users with different features; their strategy to upgrade mobile phones would be inevitable as penetration of mobile phones rises. This article also introduces luxury phones with fancy new functions.
