"How well does Wal-Mart Travel?"

Business Week, September 3 , 2001

Synopsis:
This article discusses international operations of Wal-Mart Stores Inc, the world's largest retailer. The belief that it has no choice but to undertake international expansion rapidly has driven Wal-Mart to build a powerful force outside the U.S. For example, Wal-Mart is now the biggest retailer in Canada and Mexico as well. Using some examples of the trial-and-error of Wal-Mart's operations in Germany, this article also explains some hurdles a company should overcome to become a truly global one.
