"Why Jakarta Is Keeping Foreign Buyers at Bay"

Synopsis:
This article introduces the current situations of Jakarta's privatization program. As a way to balance the budget and meet International Monetary Fund conditions for new loans, it would be necessary to sell state-owned assets to foreigners. As this article explains, however, political resistance to privatization seems to lead foreign investors to lose interest in Indonesia. Taking the finance industry as an example, this article also explains the investment environment foreign investors may have to face.
