Privatization transfers the ownership of state property into the hands of private individuals. After it started in Britain in the early 1980s, privatization has become a worldwide movement.
This special report introduces diverse aspects of privatization in China. Based on the recognition that the private sector offers the country's best hope as an engine of growth, Beijing is producing substantial, fully formed private corporations and actively helping them. As a consequence, many private companies are emerging and furthermore becoming the backbone of China's economy. In spite of some difficulties that China's new entrepreneurs may face, the new revolution is sweeping the nation.
