"Worldwide, Hope for Recovery Dims"
Business Week, September 24, 2001

Synopsis:
As a part of the special report of "Terror in America," this article explains how not only the U.S. but the world economy would be affected by the devastating assaults on symbols of U.S. financial might --the twin towers of Manhattan's World Trade Center. The terrorist attacks that destroyed thousands of lives and billions of dollars in property are almost certain to tip the U.S. into negative growth. Furthermore, the attacks are likely to trigger a global recession. This article also argues that the attacks may force dramatically tightened security and new barriers to travel and trade, which in turn negatively affects the process of globalization.
