The proliferation of the WWW has enhanced the ability of marketers to conduct certain components of the environmental analysis. The U.S. government publishes a wealth of information and the WWW has simplified the access to this information in a significant fashion. A web site that provide a conducive mechanism of conducting environmental analysis is at http://www.census.gov

In addition to tracking census data, this site provides a wealth of information on current economic indicators. Examples of data tracked include:

U.S. International trade in goods and services

  • Advanced report on durable goods manufacturers' shipments and orders

  • Manufacturing and trade inventories and sales
