An alternate method of evaluating muscular endurance is adapted from Allsen, Harrison, and Vance1 and is based on the earlier work of DiGennario.6 Seven exercises are done to evaluate muscular endurance. These are identified I Table 5-8 and are described in detail previously in this chapter.

The resistance to be used in each exercise is a percentage of your body weight. These percentages are identified in Table 5-8. The resistance should be calculated by multiplying this percentage by your body weight and recorded in Table 5-8.

For each exercise, try to perform the maximum number of repetitions possible consecutively using the designate resistance. A maximum of 17 repetitions for men and 15 for women. Points are earned for each exercise based on the number of repetitions completed. These points may be determined by consulting Table 5-9. Points for each exercise should be recorded in Table 5-8, and the total number of points for all seven exercises is then determined. This is your overall score for muscular endurance. This score may be interpreted by consulting Table 5-10.
