What is CPS?

What happens when I adopt CPS?

When you tell your McGraw-Hill representative you want to adopt CPS the following steps will take place.

  1. Your MHHE representative will tell you if you qualify for a classroom hardware loan. If you do then you will sign a loan agreement and your classroom hardware will have no cost.
  2. Your adoption will be reported to McGraw-Hill and eInstruction.
  3. Once your adoption has been reported you will get a welcome email from eInstruction. eInstruction will also email you your class creation code. If you are a McGraw-Hill text adopter your MHHE representative will provide:
    • An ISBN to order your book packaged with the CPS coupon. Give this ISBN to your bookstore.
    • A separate key pad ISBN for the bookstore to order directly from eInstruction

Once you have qualified for adopting CPS, the next step is receiving and setting up your CPS product.

  1. You will receive a test kit from eInstruction. This test kit will contain demo response pads and codes to register them, plus a receiver and software to install on your computer. In addition, you will receive Classroom Performance System With CPSOnline for Higher Ed. - Instructor Set-up Guide. This guide includes a two page handout designed for students to help them with the enrollment and online purchase process.
  2. Install the CPS software from your test kit into your computer, familiarize yourself with it as soon as possible and use CPSOnline to create you course. Clear instructions are found in the Set-up Guide. A student handout with enrollment instructions is included at the back of the Set-up Guide for you to give students.
  3. Once you have created your course you will have a Class Key, which must be given to your students to allow them into your CPSOnline course.
  4. Once your students have registered you can download your CPSOnline roster to your CPS desktop software and you are ready for class.
  5. Using CPS is very simple. A successful new user employs its features in stages. CPS is designed for you to begin using it without having to use any pre-populated content in the program. You simply use the verbal question mode and you're on your way. Creating simple lessons will take only a few minutes when you are ready to move from the verbal mode.

That's it!

You are now ready to enjoy a very productive classroom experience with CPS.
