The new edition is excellent and is very up-to-date. World's Oceans has been an excellent text over the years, striking a good balance between rigor and accessibility for students not majoring in one of the sciences. The addition of Professor Keith Sverdrup as an author has only strengthened this book. He has done an excellent job of adding to those sections which touch upon his expertise, especially plate tectonics, seismology and marine geology. I recommend the new edition highly.
