Other things equal Japan should have far less than 47 percent of the U.S. output. Visit the OECD (Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development) http://www.oecd. org/std/gdp.htm and calculate the ratio of Japans gross domestic product (a measure of national output) to the gross domestic product of the United States. Is the ratio above or below 47 percent? What might explain this difference?
