Web-Based Questions

  1. Web-Based Question: Enforcement of antitrust laws-who is responsible? The U.S. antitrust laws are available at www.law.cornell.edu/uscode/15/ch1.html. Both the Federal Trade Commission’s Bureau of Competition (www.ftc.gov/ftc/antitrust.htm) and the Antitrust Division of the Department of Justice (www.usdoj.gov/atr/index.html) enforce these laws. How do those agencies prevent duplication of effort? What are their current antitrust activities? Are any of those activities of major significance?

  2. Web-Based Question: The Consumer Product Safety Commission-what is it and what does it do? What are the major functions of the Consumer Product Safety Commission (www.cpsc.gov)? What products are the subjects of the latest CPSC press release? Identify two product categories of interest to you from Recalls by Product. List three specific product recalls for each of your two product categories. What products are covered by other government agencies and not by the CPSC? List a relatively recent major product recall relating to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
